FAQ
Where does the data come from?
Each topic is a curated snapshot drawn from public references, listed as the source on every topic page. Figures are approximate and meant for comparison and entertainment, not official reporting.
How is the percentile calculated?
It is the share of the other entities in the field that the selected one beats on the chosen metric, from 0 to 100.
How does ranking handle ties?
Ties share a rank and the next distinct value skips, so values 9, 8, 8, 7 rank 1, 2, 2, 4.
Why is a lower number sometimes better?
For metrics like price or cost of living, lower is better, so the lowest value ranks first.
Can I use my own data?
Yes. On the Your data page you can paste or upload a CSV and it renders in the same charts, saved in your browser.
Can new topics be added?
Yes. A topic is a data file plus one manifest entry, so the catalog grows without code changes.
